LIFE GROUP MINISTRY team

Healthy Life Groups are built by teams, not individuals. While every group looks a little different, these ministry roles help distribute leadership, care, discipleship, prayer, and outreach across the group so that it can remain healthy, active, and multiplying. Not every group will fill every role immediately, but these roles provide a vision for the kind of ministry we are working toward together.

Whenever someone joins your Life Group ministry team, click the button below to let me know. I'd love to work with you to support them as they begin serving with you in your Life Group!

Life Group Leader

Provides spiritual leadership, sets the direction of the group, and shepherds members toward Christ.
Lead
Healthy Life Groups thrive under faithful, Christ-centered leadership. The Life Group Leader helps set the spiritual and relational tone of the group by leading with humility, shepherding members well, and equipping others to use their gifts so the group can remain healthy, active, and multiplying.

A healthy Life Group Leader...
  • Prayerfully prepares and leads the weekly Bible discussion
  • Helps create a welcoming and engaging group environment
  • Shepherds and cares for the members of the group
  • Prays for members throughout the week
  • Follows up with members who need encouragement
  • Encourages participation during meetings, fellowships, and service opportunities
  • Communicates regularly and clearly with the group
  • Supports the overall vision and direction of Belle Aire’s Life Group ministry
  • Looks for opportunities to develop future leaders within the group

As you read through these, remember: healthy groups are not built around one person doing everything, but around leaders equipping others to share in ministry together.

Co-Leader

Shares in ministering to the group while developing as a future Life Group leader.
Support
Healthy Life Groups develop leaders, not just members. The LG Co-Leader serves alongside the Life Group Leader as a ministry partner, sharing in the teaching, shepherding, and leadership of the group while growing in preparation to one day lead a Life Group of their own.

A healthy Life Group Co-Leader...
  • Supports the Life Group Leader in carrying out the ministry of the group
  • Regularly leads the lesson (ideally once per month), even when the Life Group Leader is present
  • Helps facilitate meaningful discussion during Sunday meetings
  • Builds relationships and encourages members throughout the week
  • Shares in the shepherding and care of group members
  • Models faithful participation and engagement
  • Helps identify and develop future leaders within the group
  • Is growing in leadership and preparing to lead a new Life Group when the opportunity arises

As you read through these, remember: healthy groups don't just develop members; they develop leaders. A strong co-leader is a ministry partner today and Life Group leader in the future.

Prayer Champion

Cultivates a culture of prayer by encouraging, organizing, and modeling faithful prayer within the group.
Pray
Healthy Life Groups are sustained by prayer. The Prayer Champion helps cultivate a culture of prayer by encouraging members to pray for one another, celebrating answered prayer, and reminding the group that lasting spiritual fruit comes through dependence on God rather than our own efforts.

A healthy Life Group Prayer Champion...
  • Leads the group's Pray Through the Passage time during Life Group meetings
  • Helps cultivate a culture of prayer within the group
  • Records prayer requests, praises, and answered prayers
  • Shares prayer requests with the group throughout the week
  • Follows up on prayer requests and praises at future gatherings
  • Encourages members to pray specifically and consistently for one another
  • Celebrates God's faithfulness by highlighting answered prayers
  • Models a dependence on God through personal prayer and faithful participation

A healthy Life Group doesn't just discuss prayer; it prays! The Prayer Champion helps keep prayer at the center of the group's life by encouraging members to seek the Lord together, care for one another through prayer, and celebrate God's work among them.

D-Group Champion

Encourages deeper discipleship by promoting, supporting, and multiplying D-Groups.
Disciple
At Belle Aire, D-Groups are small, gender-specific discipleship groups of 3-5 people that meet regularly for intentional spiritual growth, accountability, prayer, Scripture discussion, and life-on-life discipleship. While Life Groups help us grow in community, D-Groups help us grow in spiritual depth. Our goal is that every Life Group will become a launching point for healthy D-Groups that help believers grow and eventually disciple others.

A healthy D-Group Champion...
  • Understands the purpose and value of D-Groups and can clearly explain them to others
  • Regularly communicates D-Group opportunities to Life Group members
  • Encourages members to take the next step into deeper discipleship
  • Helps identify potential D-Group leaders within the Life Group
  • Assists with forming new D-Groups and connecting members to existing groups
  • Maintains relationships with D-Group leaders connected to the Life Group
  • Encourages and supports D-Group leaders as they invest in others
  • Celebrates stories of spiritual growth and discipleship within the group
  • Helps foster a culture where discipleship is expected, encouraged, and multiplied
As you read through these, remember: healthy groups don't just gather people, they grow people. A strong D-Group Champion helps create pathways for deeper discipleship and leadership.

In-Reach Coordinator

Helps ensure every member feels known, encouraged, and cared for throughout the week.
Care
While every member shares the responsibility of caring for one another, the In-Reach Coordinator helps ensure that no one falls through the cracks by encouraging meaningful relationships, following up with those who are absent or hurting, and helping the group care well for one another.

A healthy In-Reach Coordinator...
  • Helps foster a welcoming, caring culture within the Life Group
  • Notices when members are absent and helps ensure they are followed up with
  • Coordinates care for members experiencing illness, loss, or other significant needs
  • Plans monthly off-campus fellowships to build relationships beyond Sunday mornings
  • Celebrates milestones, answered prayers, and special occasions within the group
  • Partners with the Life Group Leader to identify members who may need extra encouragement or care
  • Helps connect members with opportunities to serve and care for one another
As you read through these, remember: healthy groups don't just study God's Word; they live it out by loving and caring for one another. A strong In-Reach Coordinator helps every member know they are seen, valued, and never walking alone.

Outreach Coordinator

Welcomes guests, builds relationships, and helps people take their next step into the life of the church.
Connect
Healthy Life Groups don't exist only for the people already in the room, they intentionally make room for others. The Outreach Coordinator helps the group keep an outward focus by looking for people who need a Life Group home, creating opportunities to welcome them into biblical community, and encouraging the group to serve our church and community together.

A healthy Outreach Coordinator...
  • Looks for people at Belle Aire who may not yet have a Life Group and invites them to visit
  • Helps guests feel welcomed, connected, and included when they attend the group, including having guests fill out a Connect Card
  • Partners with the Life Group Leader to help guests take their next step into the Life Group
  • Encourages members to invite friends, neighbors, coworkers, and new church attenders
  • Coordinates quarterly service opportunities, such as participating in a Belle Aire Loves the Boro project
  • Helps the group maintain an outward focus rather than becoming inwardly focused
  • Celebrates stories of new connections, service, and life change within the group
As you read through these, remember: healthy groups don't just enjoy community, they invite others into it. A strong Outreach Coordinator helps ensure there is always room for one more person to experience the love of Christ through your Life Group.
